Community Engagement Programme - “AMANI” - Building the bridge
For local schools, organisations and community groups.
Sul’Art has received a grant to deliver the AMANI project (which means peace in Swahili), to contribute to building bridges between people from Muslim and other community backgrounds and faiths in Bristol. The purpose of this project is to break down divisions and tackle extremist ideology through raising cultural awareness. It will also encourage a positive mental attitude (PMA) among young people (Muslim and non-Muslim).
The project aims to bring young people from Muslim and other community backgrounds together to share values and cultures through the arts. It will help them to develop openness and improve tolerance and understanding of different faiths, cultures and history through creative and performing arts.
We want to build partnerships with schools and community organisations that work with the same target groups, with the vision of creating a positive environment and bringing harmony to our community.
We will employ professional artists to deliver workshops in music (drumming), drama and poetry leading to live performances (dates and venues to be confirmed).
Activities will take place in Bristol and will start 15 June 2009 at The Bristol Metropolitan College.
Target groups: This opportunity will focus on young people (age 10 +), from the Muslim community and other cultural and ethnic backgrounds, without any restriction of faith, gender or origin.
If your group/organisation would like to be involved in this exciting project, please contact Sul’Art Ltd by e-mailing sul_art@yahoo.fr or call 079 4022 8881.
